The Apex directory just got smarter
MORE than 600 local businesses and organisations can now be found compactly within a Smartphone.
The Apex Maleny Business Directory recently took advertising to a whole new level with the development of an App that can be downloaded on iPhones and soon Android phones.
The App provides a search for businesses and organisations listed in the Apex Maleny Business Directory Book under different categories, allowing customers to find contact details, website links and product and service information instantly.
Apex Maleny Business Directory App developer Mark Irwin, who is a former Apex Club member, said the creation allowed local businesses to connect more with customers.
"The business directory books look great, but you don't want to carry one around all the time," he said.
"The App is really like a catalogue giving customers easy access to products and services.
"It's going to be beneficial not only for customers trying to find what they want, but to businesses who want to expand their customer base."
Mr Irwin, who is a Maleny IT consultant, said the App had been in the works since he was involved in the Apex Club.
"We've been doing the directory now for six or seven years, and this App has always been in the back of my mind," he said.
"I had all of the data on every business stored, so when I started it took me about two months to develop.
"It's like an extra dimension to a business."
The Apex Maleny Business Directory was first published in 1981 and has grown into the go to reference for anybody living on the Range.

Alan Heading was the man behind the directory - it was his brainchild to put businesses in the 4552 area at the forefront of local minds.
Over the years more than 1.2 million dollars has been poured back into local projects and clubs.
The Apex Maleny Business Directory is available on iPhones, with Mr Irwin urging Android Phone users to keep on the lookout for the App over coming days.
