Should Sunshine Coast lead the way on a plastic bag ban?
THE push is on to use The Sunshine Coast as a test bed for a ban on the use of plastic shopping bags.
Queensland Conservation Council executive director Toby Hutcheon is convinced the strong level of LNP ministerial representation on the Coast, combined with our general embrace of green initiatives, makes us the perfect region to test a ban that is already in place in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
In those states, shoppers have adapted quickly, carrying reusable bags when they head off to the shops.
