Barossa shiraz is a sexy lady

I'VE always enjoyed a plummy, mouth-filling Barossa shiraz and I still find a dry yeasty French style of Chardonnay difficult to resist.

So it's probably little wonder that the Moorooroo Park Silentium Sparkling Shiraz has become a regular visitor to the Schultz household.

The 2005 Silentium was the vintage that first sold me on the style, but the current 2007 release is also well above average.

The typically deep purple colour of a Barossa shiraz is evident in the glass, but as you take that first sip, a yeasty berriness takes hold and reaches a powerful creamy cherry crescendo on the top of your mouth.

And the delicious flavours up front are no one-hit wonder as they persist right across the palate and deliver a clean, fizzy finale at the back end.

It's perhaps a touch more sweet than dry, but at 12.5% it won't knock your socks off.

It's one seriously sexy lady.
