THOUSANDS of music fans have braved the rain to enjoy a free night of music at Triple J's One Night Stand in Dalby.

The poncho parade was out in force on Edward Street, as hundreds of revelers marched towards the gates of the Dalby Showgrounds.

The live music is set to start in just a few minutes with Toowoomba trio Mace and the Motor, who won the Triple J Unearthed competition to open the annual festival.

While the overcast but dry morning gave concert-goers a sliver of hope, the rain set in at lunch time and continued until the gates opened at 3pm.

Also playing tonight are Matt Corby, rapper 360, sister rock group Stonefield and headliners Temper Trap.
