NZ flights extended next year after trial

DIRECT flights between the Sunshine Coast and Auckland will resume on June 18 next year and will continue for 17 weeks - five weeks longer than this year's trial season.

The services, on Tuesdays and Sundays, will again be operated by Air New Zealand as part of a trans-Tasman alliance with Virgin Australia. Mayor Mark Jamieson said the services meant an extra 3000 seats would be available for New Zealand tourists to visit the Coast, leading to a possible $20 million boost to the Coast's economy.
