Neumann double gives Reds victory

JERENIMO Neumann's double and an individual goal from Cassio secured a controversial 3-1 victory for Adelaide over Wellington Phoenix at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Phoenix went into half-time with a lead courtesy of Stein Huysegems' third goal of the season, but the Reds regained the initiative after the break to continue the visitors' A-League winless streak against Adelaide.

Neumann equalised and then was the source of controversy on two occasions as he first received the ball in an offside position - before setting up Cassio to score - and then went to ground easily leading to Ben Sigmund being sent off for a professional foul.

Andrew Durante labelled Neumann a cheat in a post-match interview and Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert, though more careful with his words, was equally disappointed.

"You have seen the video footage, write it yourself, I probably don't need to put words in your mouth," Herbert told reporters.
