MAKING sure no child is left behind is an issue close to the hearts of Bruce and Denise Morcombe.

This week the Morcombes met the Queensland Bus Industry Council to discuss improving public transport services and reducing the incidence of children being left behind at a bus stop.

Mr Morcombe said The Daniel Morcombe Foundation and the council were on the same side.

"No one wants kids to be left in a vulnerable position," he said.

"We're all working toward the same goal."

QBIC executive director David Tape said it was an "extremely important issue" and a meeting should have happened earlier.

"Our discussions were open and honest, establishing common ground from which we can work together in an attempt to combat this issue," Mr Tape said.

"As the peak industry body in Queensland representing the bus and coach industry, QBIC looks forward to working with Bruce, Denise and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation in tackling No Child Left Behind and general child safety on, in and around our buses."

Mr Morcombe said children's safety was paramount and everyone had to work together to achieve this.

"It will be a positive outcome for everyone. No one will suffer from this," he said.

Mr Tape will meet Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson today to discuss their joint position on this complex issue.
