Local restaraunt savouring success
MAUDY'S owner Anita Smiley is "over the moon" about the restaurant being named as a finalist in the 2012 Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering HOST PLUS Awards for Excellence in the category of Contemporary Australian Restaurant.
The Witta based "destination restaurant" will compete against a number of other restaurants across the State including five other Sunshine Coast establishments for the title which will be announced at a presentation dinner in Brisbane on September 10.
Anita said her and Chef Jamie were very excited.
"This was the first competition I had entered the restaurant in," Anita said.
Anita said it was their overall package that set them apart.
"We try to offer the total package, the hello when you walk in the door, the great food and Jamie our chef will always go and check how the meal was," she said.
"We want people to feel comfortable and create a real homely atmosphere.
"We don't pretend to be fine dining, we offer a hearty, home style meal cooked by a passionate chef."
Anita said a win would be a nice pat on the back for the hard work the pair had put in.
"The menu has been two-and-a-half-years in the making," she said.
"We use as much local produce as we can and we grow our own herbs. We take a lot of pride in what we do.
"So much goes on behind the scenes and you are always learning and evolving in this industry. It would be great to be honoured for that.
