MAPLETON State School is set to host a Community Fun Day on Saturday, September 8, in a bid to raise much needed funds for the school's programs and facilities.
P&C fundraiser Michelle Russell said the committee was hoping the event would bring the surrounding community closer together.
"We'd like to think people from Nambour, Montville and Maleny will come up for a nice day out with the family," Mrs Russell said.
"It will be great for people to get to know who is living down their street and the businesses that are around, as there will be so many on show exhibiting their products."
Mrs Russell said so far the support from the community in preparation for the Community Day had been great.
"The amount of support we've had from local businesses has been overwhelming," she said.
"We have 15 prizes in the raffle, and we keep generating competitions because people keep donating.
"Particularly in this economic climate, it's just been lovely to have that support."
The event will feature a jumping castle, animal farm and free family games among activities available.
Local author and illustrator Peter Carnavas will be there judging a drawing competition, with the Mapleton Gym set to challenge the young and old with a challenging obstacle course.
Craft, food and plant stalls will fill the school manned by keen volunteers from businesses and the surrounding Hinterland community.
Mrs Russell encouraged anyone to become involved, weather it be volunteering on the day or coming along and contributing to a local cause.
"The school really needs something like this to raise funds," she said.
"We've been planning the event for three months, and it would be great to see a good turn-out."
All proceeds from the event will go directly back into the school. The community still has the opportunity to operate a stall for the day.
