Family reflects on good times
RESIDENTS from around the region will come together to celebrate the life of a well known and loved local boy this weekend.
Maleny teenager Harrison Canton recently died while on holidays in France.
Harrison drowned while swimming at Plage d'ilbarritz beach.
The 19-year-old Witta resident grew up in the Hinterland, having a great sense of humour, quick wit, and a lot of love and care for his friends and family.
His parents Jill and Barry said the most important thing was that he lived a happy life, and left a positive and lasting effect on the lives of those he knew and met.
After dealing with international authorities for almost a month, Jill and Barry have finally been able to bring Harrison back home.
"Harrison was a happy person and he would want his friends to think of him by remembering the good times they had," Jill said.
Dad Barry said it was important to think of the day as a get together.
"It's not a memorial, it's not a tribute, it's a get together for friends just as Harrison would want," he said.
Harrison was born in Maleny Hospital and grew up as an involved member of the community.
He was still living in Maleny when he left for France.
His future aim was set on going to university in Brisbane and spending time with his sister Hayley.
The get together for Harrison will be held at Witta Recreational Club this Saturday, September 15, at 3pm.
Friends of Harrison and all who knew him in the local community are invited.
