Coolum cricketers on a roll
A-GRADE CRICKET REPORT
COOLUM'S openers looked solid against some wayward Wamuran bowling.
Luke Johnston fell for 22, ending a 41-run opening stand.
Specialist number three Tim Hynes joined Adam Styles to put another 34 runs on the board before Adam found a well placed fielder in the deep and was back in the sheds for 38.
Tim and Jesse Cakurs put together a beautiful 125-run partnership to get us to 200 runs, before Jesse cut one back on to his stumps to be out for 54.
The little master Ritchie Cole was let loose on the opposition and knocked out a fine 20 more runs for the ever-growing total.
With the team at 4/256, Bill Hutcheson and Tim Hynes took the total to 303 before the declaration was made after just 43 overs.
Tim Hynes ended on a spectacular 130 not out for the first century of the season.
After his half-century with the bat, Jesse opened the bowling and took the first wicket, ending the day with the figures of 2/10 off eight overs.
Peter Wilkinson from the other end also chipped in for two wickets for 15 runs off seven overs.
Two new bowlers for the club then took charge and maintained the pressure.
Darryl Mison ended with figures of 1/9 off four overs and Hayden Churchill got 0/7 off three overs. Wamuran ended the day on 5/45 off 24 overs.
Next week Coolum will be pushing for the outright victory by taking the last 15 wickets.
The game starts at 12.50pm next Saturday at Coolum Sports Complex.
Until next week - keep tuned and stay focused.
