Broken foot adds to Liverpool's woes

LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers is desperately seeking a new striker following the news Italian forward Fabio Borini's broken foot will keep him out for at least three months.

Rodgers now only has one recognised striker at Anfield - Luis Suarez - and there have been some stories in the British press the former Swansea City boss is on the trail of Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge on a loan basis.

Sturridge worked with Rodgers when the Northern Irishman was the youth team boss under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool faces Reading on Saturday night looking to back up a 5-2 win at Norwich in the English Premier League, the club's first victory of the season under Rodgers.

There was also bad news for the EPL's other Merseyside club with Belgian Marouane Fellaini, who missed his country's World Cup matches against Serbia and Scotland, after struggling with a knee injury he picked up in the last EPL clash with Wigan.

Fellaini has been a star for the Toffees this season, but is set to miss the trip to QPR on Monday morning and could also be unavailable for the derby with Liverpool at Goodison Park next week.
